Brittany's Record Shop is a vinyl and cassette boutique that specializes in all things funky. It was founded in 2018 by DJ/Producer Brittany "Red-I" Benton to bolster the presence of Black music in Cleveland's crate-digging community with a carefully curate selection of hip-hop, reggae, soul and jazz.
About the owner:
Brittany ”Red-I” Benton, is a Cleveland-based DJ, producer and entrepreneur who has cemented herself as an integral part of the city’s music scene for over a decade. She is best known for her hard-hitting DJ sets combining hip-hop, house, funky breaks and Afro-caribbean vibes. Any given night, she can be heard mixing J Dilla, Anderson Paak and Bob Marley back-to-back. As well as being a lifelong crate digger and turntablist, her production credits span eleven projects including the films Dispatches From Cleveland and another to be named in 2020. She is one half of the hip-hop duo, FreshProduce. and the founder of Beat Freak, Cleveland’s monthly beatmaker showcase. In 2018, she opened Brittany’s Record Shop, an independent record store that not only bears her name but has also gained a reputation as Cleveland’s “funky epicenter” with crates full of hip-hop, reggae and soul.
